Dear CoLaborers In Christ, Greetings from a land with 70° weather- even during the Christmas Season! Here in Cuenca, Ecuador, the weather is just fine. But more importantly, God is blessing, and doing mighty works. We trust He is reigning in your life as well. We are very excited at the opportunities to share the Indescribable Gift (I Cor. 9:15)God has offered to the world. It is this we are sharing, on a daily basis, and God is making things happen! Our Bible studies with various people are going quite well. Our new friends in Christ are growing in Him more and more every day, and are learning to trust Him for their daily needs. It is so exciting to see new Christians grow in grace and to see God open their eyes to His truths as they read and study His Word! Please read it on our website if you have not already (www.baptistsinecuador.org) We have the beginnings of a new church here! What could be more exciting? I am enthused about the idea of sharing with them about that Indescribable Gift this Christmas Season. It is going to be a Christmas like never before, full of meaning, for our new brothers and sisters in Christ! Recent Ministry Highlights: *Missionary Cam Woolford and I journeyed with a short term missionary, and 3 nationals to a remote, high mountain area near Riobamba-south of Quito. There we ministered in the area of teaching basic Bible Doctrine to a group of some of the poorest indigenous people I have ever seen. Despite the lack of conveniences, hygiene, and basic needs (like shoes) these dear brothers in Christ have a longing for the Word of God. Please check out some of the pictures we have posted on the website. By the way, can you imagine that although they are live in tremendous poverty, they gave of their most expensive food to us…..guinea pig! Come on down and try some.J *I took my brother in law, Paul, with us on this trip. He has been witnessing to his friends from the “U” for quite some time. Please see the next paragraph for an account of what God has been doing with him. He has shown quite a bit of devotion to Christ. And quite a bit of potential. This is why I have invited him to study with me and learn how to be an effective servant for Christ. We have been searching the Scriptures tohether every day. Please pray for us as we pursue this awesome goal together! Please pray that we will be able to effectively work together planting churches, leading people to Christ, and serving God! *Just recently Paul invited a few of his friends to go to church with us. Pastor Fernando preached the Gospel in a clear fashion that Sunday evening. We just found out that the friends we invited accepted Christ into their hearts that evening! Hallelujah! God is still saving people on a regular basis here in Cuenca! Please pray for them as they begin their new life in Christ. And please pray for us as we disciple them! *Mariela, the house maid Sonia had the privilege of winning to Christ, plans to attend church this weekend, despite the opposition from her family. She also wishes for us to help her witness to her whole family this Sunday, as they are visiting from a far away city. Additionally, she wishes to dig into the Scriptures with us and learn how to live for Jesus. There is nothing like leading people to Christ and helping them grow in grace! God is so good to us to allow us to be heavily involved in this! Prayer Requests: · Housing: We may have found an ideal setting in an area where there are no churches at this time. But we will have to wait until February. · Support: We are still under-supported at 89%. Is this a big deal? With the way prices have skyrocketed, along with rent (higher than ever), etc. the remainder means a huge significance. · Outfit: Again, we came with less than half of our needed outfit and passage money. We are praying that God will provide to meet our needs in this area. · Please pray for Sonia as she continues to recover from the cesarian. · My laptop was destroyed by the Chernobyl Virus. It was a great tool. I hope to repair it but this is only possible by installing a whole new mother board. · Again we ask you to pray for our new brothers and sisters in Christ, and for wisdom as we disciple them. · Please pray that God will help us start a church this coming year. We trust your Christmas season will not be focused on the material but on the Messiah-the Indescribable Gift which changes lives, redeems souls, and gives us that peace which passes all understanding.
