God Has Planted A Brand New Church!

Dear Faithful Prayer Partners and Supporters;

God has given birth to a brand new church here in Cuenca , Ecuador! As most of you know, we started services in a co-worker’s living room on January 12th of this year. And God has seen fit to make this church , La Iglesia Bautista La Palabra de Verdad (Word of Truth Baptist Church), grow and glorify Him! Praise God, we now have about 30 nationals attending our services, and learning to grow in Grace as they are transformed by the “Word of Truth”-God’s Word!

We have had some wonderful experiences seeing God working amongst us! As Sonia and I are now alone in this work, we are grateful for what God is doing amongst our people.

Here are some Highlights:

·We have been privileged to be involved with about thirty people in their decisions to accept Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior.

·We were about to be pushed out onto the street, because our co-workers were leaving for the US. God provided a place to meet, a one room storefront, just in time!

·Many have come to help as we have had two work days. This goes along with our monthly theme, “Saved To Serve!”

·A number of our people have made real, lasting decisions for the Lord Jesus Christ as God has taught and transformed them through His Word.

·We have had opportunities to see God save a marriage, and reconcile another couple with some problems they were having.

·Discipleship is a big emphasis in our church planting ministry. We are heavily involved in this.

· Both Sonia and I have been able to re-establish old friendships with people here. We have had such great opportunities to share Christ with them. Some are coming to church now. And some have gotten saved! Will you help us pray for the rest?

· We need to move to a bigger place soon. We need a nursery, a childrens’ church, and Sunday School rooms. This is a good problem to have!

BUT: It has not all been wonderful.

Here are some prayer issues:

·We have all been battling sickness. I have been the worst with a strep-like viral infection, a chronic digestive system infection, and a hernia-like weakness in the abdominal wall-all at the same time! Joshua and Sonia have both had strep-like problems also. The two older children (David-6yrs. , and Andrea almost 3 yrs.) are just covered with mosquito bites, and at this point they have very strong flu-like symptoms. The Public Works cut the water for a while here during this! “This too shall pass.”

· There have been strikes (dangerous) because of the climbing fuel prices and tremendous inflation. There is a fuel shortage as I am writing this letter.

·Many people are leaving for the US and Spain out of desperation.

· Rental prices are skyrocketing, and making it impractical or impossible to rent.

·We are still under-supported.

·We need to raise $60,000 to purchase a building to meet in. May God help us reach this goal for His Glory!



More Praise/Prayer: We have had the opportunity to purchase 850 Gospel Literature Booklets to pass out in an Evangelistic Campaign I am organizing for next month. Our church wishes to reach 850 houses or individuals with the Gospel in one day. Will you pray for souls to be saved, and then discipled at the Word of Truth Baptist Church in Cuenca Ecuador as a result of this?

Will you continue to pray for God’s work here in Cuenca, Ecuador? The fields definitely are “White unto Harvest”. God is doing great and mighty things at our new church plant. It is a privilege to be involved in His work.
