Greetings from the Murray Family

Welcome to our family’s personal web page! We are thrilled that you have chosen to become more acquainted with each member of our family. We hope that the pictures and written info. will serve to familiarize you with us, and help us to feel like we are part of your life.

“Please allow me to introduce my family. I love them more than life itself. They are so special to me! Our family is journeying towards a deeper relationship with Christ, and deeper relationships with each other. We want to know God more intimately than ever before. This goal requires discipline and decision. And so does the goal of having progressively closer and harmonious relationships with each other. Please pray for me as I do my job in leading them with these biblical, God given goals in sight.”--David

David

David and Sonia at Ingapirca-Ancient Canari-Inca Ruins

Saved at age 11 and called to the ministry at age 14, David praises God for a 23 year long walk with the Lord so far. He aspires to serve the Lord vigorously, for His glory, until he is called home to His presence. Laboring to be a godly father, husband, and servant of the Lord are David’s three top priorities in life. He hopes to grow in his goal to love the Lord with all his soul, all his heart, all his strength, and all his mind. This is his main motivation in life.

The way David has been called to fulfill God’s purpose in his life is through church planting and reaching the lost in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Constant Prayer: Lord, I want to be more like your Son in all areas of life. And,Lord, please give me more opportunities to share the Gospel of your Son with people.

Favorite Bible Verses: Revelation 5:11-13

Mentally Stirring Quotes:

"You come of the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve, and that's both honor enough to lift up the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth." C.S. Lewis, Prince Caspian

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” God, Acts 16:31

Favorite Humorous Sayings:

I thought at first of entitling this address “Anyone who goes to a psychiatrist ought to have his head examined,” but thought better of it and settled for “Don’t be short changed.” -- Jay E. Adams- article:Your Place in the Counseling Revolution

Lots of people say:“I’m not going to church. It is full of hypocrites!” *Answer: “Yes it is full of hypocrites, but there is always room for just one more! So will we see you here Sunday?”

Hobbies:
When David has time, he enjoys Judo, hunting, fishing, trapping, guitar, and exploring different towns and villages in Ecuador in his quest to reach the unreached.

He also enjoys praising the Lord through song.

Sonia
Saved as she was lead to the Lord by her brother , Fernando, Sonia had a rough time growing up spiritually. She was prohibited, by her parents, from attending any other church or activity which was not based on the legalistic religion she was reared in. When her brother left for the United States, so did any chance of her being discipled. When she married David and moved to the USA, the opportunities to grow and learn increased greatly-which she did.

However, she was reluctant to become a missionary because of fear. The moment she communicated to David that God had recently pulled her in that direction by softening her heart, David called Dr. Smallman of Baptist Mid Missions. They have been hooked ever since.

She diligently prayed for and witnessed to her parents over the years. Her parents did not want to talk with her or David about it. To make a long story short, through David and Sonia’s and Fernando’s witnessing, Sonia’s parents are now faithful Christians who are active members of their local church in Cuenca. So is the rest of her family!

She has seized the moment with other family members and friends too, and has been a blessing to many in Ecuador and the USA.

An extremely caring and loving mother, she is profoundly loved by her children and spouse. Always seeking to better her children, she teaches Dave during the weekdays while he is not in school. She is an extremely dedicated wife and co-worker. She assists her husband, David in many areas of the church planting ministry. He praises God for her!

Hobby: Canines. She is a lover of purebred mid sized doggies. Presently she has a Mini Schnauzer named Spicy. Spicy is missed by the Murrays right now. Sonia’s brother Paul is watching her while the Murrays are in the USA.

Likes: Buffalo Wings, any Mall

David R. (Davey)

Davey catches his first fish and finds it stinky

Born on October 18, 1996, David is a fun loving boy who loves to make friends everywhere he goes. He likes to play with others. Sometimes it is obvious that he takes after his father- as he gets in trouble when he plays too much! He is pretty skilled in “Spanglish” . ( It would be preferable that he speak English and Spanish. We are working on making progress at separating the two languages.)

One thing that has surprised his parents is the way that David has evangelized his friends. He has shared with people he has known for quite some time, and with people that he had just met. We had told him that he ought to do share Christ, and we have tried to model it. But to actually see him do it is always a joyfully teary eyed surprised for us. He shares Jesus consistently with his friends and acquaintances. And he has tact and passion in his method. I know he's only eight but it's true! He helps his Dad witness on the street too-he really has a desire to see souls saved. This makes little David our small hero. We are proud at how He loves the Lord and actually shares his faith with others. Not bad for an eight year old!

Of course he's a regular young boy who gets into mischeif and trouble. Anybody who has hosted him as a Sunday School student knows that!-Do you wonder who he inherited that from? His father says "From his mother!"

Hobbies/Likes: Cartoons, Gameboy, VeggieTales, Judo, Dr Seuss, Fishing with Dad

Funny Sayings: I told him that some day soon I would train him to lead the music because I need help at church. And the Lord wants to use people for the Harvest. He responded “Dad, what do you mean just song leading?! I am going to be a Pastor!”

Favorite Verse: John 3:16

Favorite Book of the Bible: Revelation

Andrea
Born on July 6th of 2,000, Andrea is definitely Daddy’s little girl. She is very close with her mother too. Andrea is our sweetheart. She enjoys playing with her brothers. Being the middle girl between two brothers will probably make her pretty tough! She makes friends easily and is really an outgoing child. 2004 may have marked the beginning of her true spiritual walk with Christ through salvation. Little David and she were in the Trooper alone as her parents went in to a store briefly. At that time young Dave witnessed to her-as he had many times before. She prayed and asked God to forgive her for all of her sins, and for Jesus to enter her heart. When we got back to the car, Andrea related the recent circumstances to us. She was very excited. We were obviously overtaken with joy! We have been praising God for this ever since. Does she really understand? Is she at the age of accountability yet? Obviously we are not sure, although we do think that this is legitimate. Please pray for her young life and new walk with her Creator.

Likes: Barbie, Her dog, “Spicy”, Bugging Dave

Funny Statement: In Spanish , the word Sins is pecados. The word fishes is Pescados. Andrea claimed that Jesus has forgiven her for all-all-all of her pescados. We had a tearful laugh after hearing that one!

Joshua

Little Joshua is our youngest son. He turned two on August 26, 2004. He is learning "Spanglish" well. And while in the USA on furlough right now, he is getting over the initial "trauma" of going to nursery! With a Spanish language background in a different continent, he has taken the transition the hardest. But he is doing well. We pray he will get saved as soon as possible. He is not saved yet, and it is VERY obviouse!) LOL! :-)
